Pittsburgh public schools to produce a full-scale elementary musical!
Zack and I would like to extend our sincerest thanks for the incredible impact the Giving Back Fund (RetailROI) grant made in our lives and the lives of children in our city over the past year. We just wanted to take a moment and let you know what your generosity allowed us to achieve:
We worked with one of the Pittsburgh Public schools to produce a full-scale elementary musical. This year, our production was Peter Pan Jr. We believe children are capable of taking on large amounts of responsibility when they are diligently coached, encouraged, and excited about a project.
We saw growth in acting skills, vocal performance, and personal skills such as confidence on stage and in interpersonal skills, commitment, and handling rejection.
We acted as co-directors, acting coaches, student mentors, and carried out various administrative roles such as casting the show, communication with parents, attendance, and scheduling.
We had a total of 152 Kindergarten-5th grade students in the show, which is a staggering number for an elementary musical production. Each student had a costume and role to perform.
COVID-19 hit our area a week before the show could be performed. Everyone was devastated, but we hope to be able to produce this same musical next May so that their hard work can come to fruition.
We had peace-of-mind knowing that the Giving Back Fund was willing to support our efforts financially. Thank you for believing in the power of community engagement.
I’ve attached some photos from Peter Pan Jr and the program for the show.
We’re happy to connect over the phone if you have any questions or comments.
Thank you again for your kind generosity!
